Today has been an interesting day- in the "why did I sign up for this?" sense.
Sometimes I wonder about the kids I teach. How have they made it to high school? Where has the system failed? But is it the system?
In the morning, students have 15 minutes to go to lockers and such before the first period bell rings. My class was full with just seconds before the bell, when one of my kids was paged over the intercom to report to the office. He says, "Finally!" gets his books together and starts toward the door. I say, "*Fred,* are you not coming back?"
No, I just came for 6 A.M. baseball practice.
Hmm, you can get up extra early for baseball, but school... nah!
